BARE BASE BEAUTY — RETURN AND REFUND POLICY

Welcome to Bare Base Beauty. We want you to love your grooming and styling essentials. Because we specialize in personal care and grooming gadgets, our return policy is strictly structured to comply with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) No. 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA) No. 25 of 2002, while ensuring the highest standards of public health and hygiene.

Please read through our policy carefully before making a purchase. By completing a purchase on our online store, you explicitly agree to these terms.

1. Your Statutory ECTA "Cooling-Off" Period (Change of Mind)

In accordance with Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA), you are entitled to cancel your purchase and request a full refund within seven (7) days of receiving your product, subject to the following strict conditions:

  • Hygiene and Safety Restrictions: Due to the personal nature of our grooming gadgets (including but not limited to electric razors, trimmers, and heated combs), items cannot be returned if they have been unpacked, unsealed, or handled.

  • To qualify for a "Change of Mind" return, the product must be in its original, unsealed, unopened, and undamaged packaging, with all original plastic wrapping, seals, tags, and accessories completely intact.

  • Shipping Costs: In terms of Section 44(2) of ECTA, the consumer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods to us. You will need to cover the courier fee to return the unopened item to our designated depot.

  • Once inspected and approved by our team, your refund will be processed within 30 days of cancellation.

2. Defective, Damaged, or Faulty Products (CPA Section 56)

We stand behind the quality of our products. In accordance with Section 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), if a product is genuinely defective, malfunctioning, or damaged upon arrival, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund, provided that:

  • Notification Window: You notify us via email at [barebasebeauty@gmail.com] within six (6) months of receiving the product.

  • Assessment: The product must be returned to us for physical assessment. Bare Base Beauty reserves the right to send the product for technical evaluation to determine the root cause of the defect.

  • Exclusions (What is NOT covered): We cannot offer a refund or replacement under the CPA for defects resulting from:

    • Normal wear and tear.

    • Damage caused by negligence, user abuse, misuse, or dropping the device.

    • Damage caused by inadequate care, poor cleaning, or altering the product.

    • Damage arising from electrical power surges (load shedding damage), incorrect charging currents, or water damage (unless the product is explicitly rated as fully waterproof).

If the product is found to be genuinely defective after physical evaluation, Bare Base Beauty will cover the costs of the return courier and will fulfill your choice of a repair, replacement, or full refund. If the item is found not to be defective (e.g., the user simply did not charge it correctly or did not follow instructions), the customer will be liable for the evaluation and courier fees.

3. Non-Returnable Items

For public safety, health, and hygiene reasons, the following items cannot be returned, refunded, or exchanged under any circumstances unless they are structurally defective:

  • Any product that has been used for personal grooming or styling.

  • Any product where the original plastic wrapping, safety seals, or box seals have been broken or altered.

  • Items purchased on a clearance or "Final Sale" promotional event (unless defective under the CPA).

4. How to Log a Return

To initiate a return, please follow this process:

  1. Email our customer care team at [barebasebeauty@gmail.com] with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photographs/videos of the product and its packaging.

  2. If your return meets the preliminary criteria, we will provide you with a Return Authorization and the correct delivery address for our depot.

  3. Do not send items back to us without receiving prior written authorization from our team. Unauthorized returns will not be processed and will be returned to the sender at their expense.

5. Refunds Processing

  • Once your return is received at our depot, it will be inspected within 3–5 business days.

  • We will notify you via email whether your return has been approved or rejected.

  • Approved refunds will be credited back to your original method of payment (e.g., PayFast, Yoco, Ozow, or Credit Card) or via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). Please note that it can take between 5 to 10 business days for funds to reflect in your account depending on your banking institution.
